Our History

Princes Place was built at the end of the 20th century as part of a clearing out of Victorian terraces, to be replaced by modern housing. It was built for the charity and social housing landlord Octavia, which was founded by the Victorian social reformer Octavia Hill.

Octavia Hill established her first housing project in a slum in Marylebone in 1864. Her aim was to "make lives noble, homes happy and family life good."

Octavia still manages Princes Place, although the charity is now owned by another housing association, Abri.
